Desert Aircraft Engines
Desert Aircraft Engines DA-50R , DA-100 and DA-120
When it comes to gasoline engines Desert Aircraft is probably one of the best known manufacturers. I've had the DA-50R and now own DA-100. Both engines are very powerful. My DA-50R was swinging a 23x8 carbon fiber Mejzlik prop at nearly 7000 rpm. I had it installed in my 27% Extra 260 which was lost in the mid air crash. Fortunately there was no damage done to the engine. I preferred a larger prop, but if you do a lot of 3D type flying 22x8 would probably be a better choice, as it will allow the engine to spool up faster. My DA-100 spins 27x10 Bolly wooden prop..... After the brake in period I now mix my fuel using 40:1 ratio and use Red Line 2-cycle Synthetic Racing oil for all my gasoline engines.

Desert Aircraft has released a new engine - the DA-120 which is supposed to be an upgrade and direct replacement for the 100 - it is lighter than the 100, has the same mounting pattern and size and spins props 500 to 600 rmp faster. I am going to install one in my Comp-Arf Extra 300L - it should be a very good match for this plane.
