Great Planes Little Tony
Great Planes Little Tony
This is a Great Planes Little Tony - I have flown one a couple of years ago, when I help a friend with the maiden flight. I liked how it flu, and wanted to get one for a while. Recently an opportunity has come to buy a brand new model for a discounted price - so I did. I was going to use a small gas engine such as JBA J15G 15cc, DLE-20, or Saito FG-20, but have decided to go with new Saito 115 glow engine instead. Main reason to go glow is the weight savings, ease of installation - no ignition module, no ignition battery. Also a lot cleaner install when it comes to fitting the cowl. Pictures are coming soon.....

First glimpse out of the box - I cut out the canopy and mack it up on the fuse, together with the cowl. I have to say this fiberglass fuse looks pretty nice....
As I mentioned above, I decided to go with glow engine over a gas one. Here is a brand new Saito 115....
Since my servos are on back order I started on the fuse - mounted the engine, cut out the cowl, and mounted the landing gear. I also installed throttle push rod.....
Below i a picture of finished wing... I hate stickers that come with ARF's so I asked my friend Brad to cut me all the graphics in vinyl. I also added checkers on the wing tips - no racing plane should ever fly without checkers (in my opinion).... Looks like this build will have to be put on hold - the included stab is warped on one side, and I have decided that I am not going to use it. I've talked to Tower Hobbies and they will replace it for me, unfortunately they are back ordered until late July....

After nearly six month wait I finally got new tail section from Tower - well, needles to say, maiden flight will have to wait for next year. On the left:fuse with servos, battery, tank and switch mounted, bottom: installed canopy (no pilot)...
